Former School Administrator's New Book Provides First-hand Account of Decline of Public Schools

Crisis of Leadership in Public Education by Dr. Joseph Picogna reveals the trials and tribulations of public schools over the last thirty years.

Cherry Hill, NJ (PRWeb) December 10, 2006 -- School expert Dr. Joseph Picogna examines how children are underserved in the public school system and presents a strong case for how the system can be turned around in Crisis of Leadership in Public Education.

Public schools are in trouble, suggests former school administrator Dr. Joseph Picogna. Despite high taxes, Dr. Picogna suggests that there are more than sufficient funds to dramatically increase the productivity of the public schools and better serve the needs of children--even while lowering local property taxes in the process. There is too much fraud and waste in public education, says Dr. Picogna, and too little accountability. To ensure that children are not underserved or at risk under the state's educational system, he believes that parents, taxpayers, educators and legislators need to become more fully involved.

In clear, lucid prose, Dr. Picogna documents a history of the education system, from what has been, to what might have been, to what could be a new golden age in learning. While there are many dedicated people, Picogna hones in on the decline of productivity and the erosion of public confidence in the schools. He outlines how and why things no longer work. Nevertheless, his message is upbeat. With new leadership and increased involvement, people can change the schools for the better. Part memoir, and part crusade, Crisis of Leadership in Public Education is an education in itself--one that no citizen can afford to bypass.
