Alaska Online Schools
Because of long
distances between towns and rural areas in Alaska, the state's
school districts seem to have a fairly good distance
learning/homeschool assistance program set up already.
Using that established system with your own school district would
mean no out of pocket tuition for your family.
Please email info@cyberhighschools.comif there are additional cyber
charter or distance learning schools that you would like
to see on this list. You will see the first school below
mention Blackboard Learning Systems. That is correct,
Blackboard is the leader in online school course
delivery technology.
From their website: "At PACE Correspondence
School we are committed to delivering quality online classes to
homeschool and correspondence students in all parts of Alaska and
across the United States. Our classes are taught by certified
teachers and meet criteria established by the Alaska Department of
Education and the Craig City School District in Southeast Alaska.
We utilize Blackboard Learning Systems®, the state-of-the-art
electronic course delivery system."
From their website: "Delta Cyber School is an
online public school open to all Alaskan students ages 5-19.
It is free of charge to any Alaskan student not attending another
public school. Tuition-based courses are also available for
public school students. All course work is delivered online
and taught by Alaskan teachers. Our elementary program
requires considerable parental involvement, but all middle school
and high school course work is delivered and graded by our
teachers; parents are asked to serve as mentors to encourage their
students to work but are not required to do any teaching or
grading. Students have immediate access to their teachers
through instant web-conferencing and/or phone from 8:30 to 3:45
Monday through Friday. For further information, contact Pam
Krepel at pam.krepel@dcsmail.com.

the Yukon-Koyukuk School District, is to provide support to

life-long learners, problem-solvers, and contributing members
of their family, community, and society by providing
meaningful experiences that create understanding of their
cultural heritage and the technological
world."
From their website: "With
an allotment granted by the State of Alaska and the Anchorage
School District , each family tailors the educational pathways for
their children. Families partner with State Certified Anchorage
